No Impact Home Based Business


  1. APPROVAL OF THIS NO-IMPACT HOME-BASED BUSINESS APPLICATION IS LIMITED TO THE SPECIFIC OPERATIONAL DETAILS DESCRIBED. ANY IMPLIED OR OMITTED OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES ARE NOT CONSIDERED APPROVED AND MAY RESULT IN THE REVOCATION OF THIS APPROVAL

  2. Description of Business INCLUDING ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:
    • Please provide a detailed description of your proposed home-based business. 
    • Be sure to specify its location within your home and its total square footage. 
    • Describe the daily operations and indicate if any noises, smells, or air pollutants will be detectable from outside the building.
    • Please mention any planned exterior signage and who will be working for the business. 
    • You must also estimate the number of daily visitors, customers, and deliveries, and explain where they will park. 
    • Finally, describe what you will be storing, where you'll keep it, and if your business is subject to any health inspections 

  3. ARE YOU A NO-IMPACT HOME-BASED BUSINESS? 

    Chapter 400, Zoning Regulations, Article 7, Home Occupation Regulations, Section 400.380, No- Impact Home-Based Business Regulations state that only those home-based businesses that are no-impact home-based businesses are permitted in conjunction with residential uses. Section 400.380 No-Impact Home-Based Business Regulations further require no-impact home-based businesses to comply with various regulations. Please read each regulation and initial on the left acknowledging that you have read each regulation and agree to abide by the regulations at all times.

  5. No-Impact Home-Based Business (NIHBB) Application Approval Process

    Please read the following instructions carefully to understand the approval process for your No-Impact Home-Based Business application. 

    1. Submission: Complete this application form in its entirety and submit it along with all required supporting documents to the Planning Department. The Planning Department will review your application for Zoning approval. 

    2. Standard Approval: If your proposed NIHBB meets all code requirements, the Planning Department will forward your application, documents, and fees to the Finance Department. The Finance Department will then issue your business license. 

    3. City Council Approval (if required): Please be aware that some No-Impact Home-Based Businesses may require City Council approval. This will significantly extend the approval process by a minimum of 60 days. If City Council approval is necessary, you will be notified and required to complete the following: 

    Submit additional applications and fees. 

    Attend public meetings and/or hearings related to your application. 

    Present your case and answer questions from the City Council and public. 

    4. Final Issuance: Once all necessary approvals have been granted, including any required from the City Council, the Planning Department will forward your application and fees to the Finance Department for the issuance of your business license. 

    Please ensure all information is accurate and all necessary documents are included to avoid delays in the approval process.
