Missouri American Water - Lead Service Line Inventory Ellisville
Missouri American Water has voluntarily pledged to replace all lead/galvanized service lines in the communities we serve by 2030. This is being done to proactively eliminate the source of potential health concerns. It is not due to any issues with water quality.
This is a voluntary goal and goes above and beyond current federal requirements.
Lead service line inventory and replacement is ongoing throughout the state. To maximize effort and resources, service lines identified with lead and galvanized material are being replaced on a regional scale.
The water remains safe to consume. Missouri American Water’s treatment process, specifically lime softening, produces quality finished water that is non-corrosive and slightly scale forming. This helps reduce the potential for metals. like lead, to leach into the water.
The monitoring we have been doing for the last 30 years as part of the EPA’s Lead & Copper Rule requirements has consistently been well below the established action levels for lead. Our water quality reports for 2023 are currently available here.
