What is a geographic information system (GIS)? In the simplest terms, GIS is the merging of cartography and database technology. Consumer users would likely be familiar with applications for finding driving directions, like a GPS program on their hand-held device.
The city's GIS creates and maintains maps of the city for various purposes, such as planning and zoning proposals and public works projects. The maps below are available for download. For more information on GIS and/or city maps, contact City Hall at 636-227-9660.
