Inspections
The Engineering Department performs inspections in a multitude of areas, including building, plumbing, excavation, sewers and demolition. Construction documents are reviewed for renovations, additions and new construction. The Engineering Department performs building and plumbing inspections on all work requiring permits within the corporate limits of the City of Ellisville.

The City contracts with St. Louis County to assist with electrical and mechanical inspections on all new buildings. All electrical and mechanical work is reviewed and permits issued through St. Louis County.  In addition, annual mechanical inspections on all commercial structures were instituted which includes the inspection of all elevators.

Building Permits
The Engineering Department reviews all plans in accordance with city zoning and subdivision ordinances, and in accordance with the 2009 International Code Council (ICC) Building Code, The 2009 ICC Code for single- and two-family dwelling units and the 2009 ICC Plumbing Code.
